Sidewalk Labs and Plaza Ventures have partnered to take the next steps on establishing a venture capital fund focused on Canadian urban technology companies.
Cities are facing great challenges. Longer commute times. Fewer housing options. Increasing carbon emissions. We believe technology will have a key role to play in tackling these problems — and improving quality of life for people living in cities.
Quayside Venture Partners is a partnership between Sidewalk Labs and Plaza Ventures to create a venture capital fund to invest in early-stage Canadian urban technology companies that are focused on addressing these types of city challenges. We would collaborate with corporate partners, later-stage tech companies, and industry leaders to support these Seed and Series A companies and help them bring their innovative solutions to market.
The fund would launch and make investments next year, if the Sidewalk Toronto project is approved by Waterfront Toronto and governments.
